چکیده

Abstract Objective To describe tattoo ink marking of axillary lymph nodes (TIMAN) and the elements leading to successful removal at sentinel node biopsy (SLNB). Methods An IRB-approved retrospective image review was conducted breast cancer patients who underwent SLNB after TIMAN from February 2013 August 2017, noting patient tattooed (TLN) features, initial type, time surgery, if TLN identified correlation with SLN. Cases were divided into two groups: presurgical group, which had primary pre-neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) surgery completing NACT. Results Of 30 32 procedures, 10 (33.3%) 20 (66.7%) pre-NACT. The average (LN) depth skin 1.6 cm, an 0.3 mL injected. 29 (90.6%) US images demonstrating injection. these, (34.5%) injected in LN cortex surface 19 (65.5%) middle cortex. Seven (24.1%) lateral aspect, 12 (41.4%) mid medial aspect. LNs, 28 (87.5%) immediately 4 (12.5%) a later date. At SLNB, all (100%) TLNs identified, correlated SLN, (31.3%) positive for cancer. Conclusion Using ink, successfully despite variability injection factors.

the accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy compared with axillary lymph node dissection in breast cancer

background : sentinel lymph node biopsy is used as an accurate staging procedure to detect early breast cancer. several studies have documented that sentinel lymph node biopsy can accurately determine the status of axillary nodes. sentinel node biopsy offers the advantage of accurately staging the axilla and eliminating the need for a full axillary dissection for patients who have a negative se...

The Relationship of gravidity with the Frequency of Removed Lymph Nodes in Mastectomy and Involved Lymph Nodes after the Surgery in Women with Breast Cancer

Abstract Background: Breast cancer is the most common fatal cancer among women worldwide and it has an increasing rate in Iranian women. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of gravidity with removed lymph nodes and involved lymph nodes after mastectomy surgery in women with breast cancer. Methods: In this ...

Diagnostic accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy in axillary lymph nodes at the early stages of breast cancer.

INTRODUCTION For almost 100 years, standard procedure for evaluation of axillary lymph status has been axillary nodes dissection (ALDN)-dissection of 1st, 2nd or possible 3rd level of axilla. Use of less invasive evaluation methods of axillary node pathologically (PH) status of non-invasive breast carcinoma has been started before about 30 year and that new method has been named sentinel lymph ...

Axillary Lymph Node Dissection in Breast Cancer Patients. the Role of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy

Rationale. Since its introduction in the early 1990s, sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is regarded as the standard treatment for patients with clinically negative axillary lymph nodes (LNs) on initial presentation. Classically, when the SLN biopsy is negative, the axillary LN dissection (ALND) is no further necessary. On the other hand, performing complete ALND in case of a positive SLNB is co...

Radiation exposure of the surgeons in sentinel lymph node biopsy

Background: Sentinel node biopsy (SLNB) is the standard of care for breast cancer treatment and it is getting wide acceptance in Iran. The radiation safety of the procedure has been investigated under controlled conditions, but the standard dose of radiotracer and techniques are not always observed in the community setting. The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of the absor...
